INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT REAR DOOR LOCK WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Check the operation of the door lock motor.

(1) Apply auxiliary battery voltage and check the operation of the door lock motor.

OK:

Auxiliary Battery Connection

Result

Auxiliary battery positive (+) → Terminal 4

Auxiliary battery negative (-) → Terminal 1

Locks

Auxiliary battery positive (+) → Terminal 1

Auxiliary battery negative (-) → Terminal 4

Unlocks

If the result is not as specified, replace the rear door lock with motor assembly LH.

(b) Check the operation of the unlock detection switch.

(1) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

If the result is not as specified, replace the rear door lock with motor assembly LH.

2. INSPECT REAR DOOR LOCK WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY RH

(a) Check the operation of the door lock motor.

(1) Apply auxiliary battery voltage and check the operation of the door lock motor.

OK:

Installation

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

HINT:

  • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
  • The following procedure is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE

1. PRECAUTION

NOTICE:

After turning the engine switch (for Gasoline Model) or power switch (for HV Model) off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

2. INSTALL REAR DOOR INSIDE LOCK/UNLOCK KNOB LOCKING CABLE

(a) Install the rear door inside lock/unlock knob locking cable as shown in the illustration.

Install in this Direction

(b) Engage the 3 claws to close the cover as shown in the illustration.

3. INSTALL REAR DOOR LOCK OPEN LEVER REMOTE CONTROL CABLE

(a) Install the rear door lock open lever remote control cable as shown in the illustration.

Install in this Direction

(b) Engage the 2 claws to close the cover as shown in the illustration.

4. INSTALL REAR DOOR LOCK WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY

NOTICE:

  • When reusing a removed rear door lock with motor assembly, replace the door lock wiring harness seal with a new one.
  • Do not allow grease or dust to adhere to the door lock wiring harness seal installation surface.
  • Reusing a door lock wiring harness seal or using a damaged door lock wiring harness seal may cause water ingress. This may result in a malfunction of the rear door lock with motor assembly.

(a) Apply MP grease to the sliding parts of the rear door lock with motor assembly.

(b) When reusing the rear door lock with motor assembly:

(1) Install a new door lock wiring harness seal to the rear door lock with motor assembly.

(c) Connect the rear door lock with motor assembly to the release plate of the rear door outside handle frame sub-assembly, and set it to the rear door panel.

HINT:

Make sure that the release plate of the rear door outside handle frame sub-assembly is securely connected to the rear door lock with motor assembly.

(d) Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, install the rear door lock with motor assembly with the 3 screws.

Torque:

5.5 N·m {56 kgf·cm, 49 in·lbf}

(a) Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the 3 screws.

(b) Move the rear door lock with motor assembly downward to disconnect it from the release plate of the rear door outside handle frame sub-assembly, and remove the rear door lock with motor assembly.

(c) When reusing the rear door lock with motor assembly:

(1) Remove the door lock wiring harness seal from the rear door lock with motor assembly.

16. REMOVE REAR DOOR LOCK OPEN LEVER REMOTE CONTROL CABLE

(a) Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 claws and open the cover as shown in the illustration.

(b) Remove the rear door lock open lever remote control cable as shown in the illustration.

17. REMOVE REAR DOOR INSIDE LOCK/UNLOCK KNOB LOCKING CABLE

(a) Using a screwdriver, disengage the 3 claws and open the cover as shown in the illustration.

(b) Remove the rear door inside lock/unlock knob locking cable as shown in the illustration.
